Chinese National Day 2009

For the National Day, Gary, one of our Chinese friends and his girlfriend, Shirley, took us to the Stone Elephant Lake Ecotourist Resort. Here they keep seasonal flowers planted year round. Right now it’s lily season. It is a favorite place of wedding couples to be photographed. Watching the couples was as much fun as seeing all of the flowers.

In the afternoon, they took us to Gary’s parents’ house for dinner. His family was very gracious. We had way too much food, but it was all very delicious.

That night at 8 o’clock, fireworks were set off in six different locations in the city. We were able to watch some from the roof of Gary’s apartment on the 33 floor.DSC_0091
